5 Best Parts of A Catholic Wedding to Capture on Video

A wedding day moves quickly. As a Catholic wedding videographer, I need to know before the wedding which key moments are most important to each couple. Here’s a list of my favorite moments to capture on a wedding day.

The Vows

This is the most important part of the entire wedding day. It is in this moment when a man and woman entrust their relationship to God and become husband and wife. Their vows are grounded upon a covenant to love each other through life’s ups and downs until death.

The Consecration

The Sacraments are an important part of the lives of couples who decide to get married in the Catholic Church. The Second Vatican Council calls the Eucharist the source and summit of Catholic life. As this couple begins their married life together it is natural to entrust their relationship to Christ in the Eucharist who will sustain them throughout their lives. This all begins at their wedding Mass.

The Homily

The homily during the wedding Mass is personalized to the couple. The homily offers insight into the spiritual lives of the couple and sometimes into their background. Sometimes the homilist shares funny memories and the couple’s reaction is great to capture on video. This offers great memories for the couple to share with their family for generations.

The Church Exit

When the wedding Mass is over, there is no greater rush of energy and emotion than in the 5-10 minutes as the newly married couple exits. The family and friends pour out of the church and offer their congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. This moment is filled with so much joy!

The Speeches

Much like the homily, the speeches offer a personal insight into the lives of the couple. The homily offers insight into the spiritual lives and growth of the couple, whereas the speeches at the reception tell more personal stories. They are typically filled with laughter and much joy, especially the childhood stories!

Bonus: Interviews with Family and Friends

There’s still room for a bonus moment from the day. During the wedding day, I like to capture interviews with family members and friends of the bride and groom. These off-the-cuff speeches give warm wishes to the couple and tell stories and shared memories. The bride and groom then have a collection of memories of the guests to go back to for years to come.

William Tishuk

Hello! I am William Tishuk. My wife, daughter and I live in Long Island, New York. My wife and I got married after graduating from Catholic University and I then studied law for a semester. Realizing that law was not my proper vocation or my passion, God lead me to be a Catholic wedding videographer to properly showcase the sacramental realities unfolding in the Sacrament of Matrimony in the New York Metro Area. It is my desire that all who watch my wedding films come to a deeper understanding of the joy and sacrifice of Catholic marriage. Let’s schedule a meeting to go over your wedding day details!
